Ida Narbuvoll broke from the starting line in the season-opening Doug Watts Distance Gala, it was obvious she was a special runner. On Monday, she collected two of the three major postseason awards in women's cross country presented by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Narbuvoll was named the PSAC Athlete of the Year and PSAC Freshman of the Year. She becomes the first runner to win both honors since Shippensburg's Neely Spence in 2008.
Dabniel Caulfield, the head coach at California(Pa.), was selected the PSAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
A freshman from Hedmark, Norway, Narbuvoll as previously named the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year. That came before she capped her season with an All-American showing at the NCAA Division I National Championships in Joplin, Mo. Narbuvoll finished 37th in the field of 246 runners. She posted a time of 21:21.3 over the 6K course to finish as the top runner from the Atlantic Region.
Narbuvoll's season began with a first-place finish in the Doug Watts Distance Gala. She opened her postseason run by sweeping the individual titles at the PSAC Championships and NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.
She became Edinboro's first individual PSAC champion since Rachael Lanzel captured first place in 2006. That helped Edinboro claim its second straight PSAC crown. In addition, she was the first true freshman winner since Spence won the first of her four straight titles in 2008. Narbuvoll covered the 6K course in a time of 21:46.8. She accomplished the double two weeks later with a first place finish in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional. While Edinboro's two-year reign as region champion ended with a second-place finish, Narbuvoll adding the individual championship to her resume'. Edinboro's

Narbuvoll won in a sprint to the finish line over Bloomsburg's Kate Dodds. She covered the 6K course in a time of 20:32.8, bettering Dodds by nine seconds.
