ERIE, Pa. (March 17, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s lacrosse team played its first official Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match on Wednesday afternoon, with fifth-ranked Mercyhurst handing the Fighting Scots a 21-6 defeat.  The victory boosted the Lakers to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC West, while Edinboro is now 2-2 and 0-1, respectively.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 15, 2010) – Edinboro wrestling fans who can’t make the trip to Omaha, Nebraska can follow the Fighting Scots on ESPN at the upcoming NCAA Division I National Championships.

Clifford, who transferred from Shippensburg this season, excelled for the Fighting Scots in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke. He capped his season by earning All-American status and setting an Edinboro record in the 200 back while also finishing 21st in the 100 back at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Canton, Ohio this past weekend. Clifford (Oil City, PA/Oil City/Shippensburg) was named the Edinboro Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 14, 2010) – Edinboro University senior Samantha Reimer (Altoona, PA/Altoona) has been named to the 2009-10 Daktronics Women’s Basketball All-Atlantic Region second team.  

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 14, 2010) – While six members of the Edinboro wrestling team will take part in the 2010 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Nebraska on March 18-20, assistant coach Kyle Cerminara will also take to the mat.  The former University at Buffalo All-American will be part of the Big Ten vs. Big 12 Challenge.  The Big Ten vs. Big 12 Challenge is an exhibition men’s freestyle wrestling dual meet that will take place during the NCAA Fan Festival.  The Challenge is set for Friday, March 19 from 1:45-2:30 p.m. in Exhibit Hall C of the Qwest Center, the site of the NCAA Division I Championships.

SPARTANBURG, SC (March 13, 2010) – Freshman Shelby Will’s goal with 24 seconds remaining in the second overtime period gave the Edinboro women’s lacrosse team a 16-15 win at Converse on Saturday.  The victory boosted the Fighting Scots to 2-1 and marked the first-ever two-game winning streak for the second-year program.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 13, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Zak Clifford (Oil City, PA/Oil City) today earned honorable mention All-American honors while competing in the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Canton, Ohio.   The junior becomes Edinboro’s first men’s All-American since 1994-95.

            The Fighting Scots are scheduled to play in the Salem(Va.) Tournament on March 19-21, playing a total of five games. 

DUE WEST, SC (March 12, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s lacrosse team braved wet conditions on Friday to even its record at 1-1 with a 17-8 victory at Erskine.  The loss left the Fleet with a 0-8 record.  Edinboro concludes its three-game trip south on Saturday at Converse.

KISSIMMEE, Fl. (March 11, 2010) – The Edinboro softball team was schedule to play a pair of games on Thursday in the Rebel Spring Games, facing Minnesota-Duluth in the first game and Truman State in the second.  They were fortunate enough to get in one game as heavy rains and lightning deluged the area, although to head coach Dan Gierlak, unfortunate may be the proper word as his youthful Fighting Scots squad continued to struggle with the bats, losing 4-1.  The game was called after six innings due to lightning, and lasted nearly seven hours after starting at 9 a.m.

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 11, 2010) – Year number two did not start as well as head coach Kevin Cooke had hoped for his Edinboro women’s lacrosse team.  Facing a Queens(NC) team which he coached for five seasons, Cooke saw his Fighting Scots open their second season of competition with a 21-9 defeat.  The Royals improved to 21-9.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 10, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team will have six wrestlers headed to Omaha, Nebraska for the NCAA Division I Wrestling National Championships next week.  Five wrestlers qualified last Sunday at the EWL Championships. A sixth was named on Wednesday when Eric Morrill (left) was awarded one of 50 at-large selections by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee. 

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 10, 2010) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference today announced the All-PSAC Men’s Basketball Teams.  Edinboro’s University’s Byron Knight (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) is one of six players named to the All-PSAC West First Team.

KISSIMMEE, FL. (March 9, 2010) – The Edinboro University softball team dropped two games in Florida today. In the morning opener, the Fighting Scots fell in eight innings to Indianapolis, 1-0 with junior Beth Mullins going the distance and not giving up an earned run and striking out three. In the afternoon affair, Edinboro fell 6-1 to Charleston (WV) with Stephanie Cassidy’s solo home run being the only run for the Boro.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 9, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Beth Mullins(Brooklyn Park, MD/North County) has been named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 7. 

The junior tossed a shutout to lead Edinboro to a 4-0 season-opening win against Urbana on Sunday in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fl.  Mullins picked up where she left off a year ago in the season opener.  The junior gave up just three hits and did not issue a walk while striking out five.  A year ago she finished with a 15-11 record while earning first team All-PSAC West honors.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 9, 2010) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced the 2009-10 All-PSAC Women’s Basketball Teams today.  Three Edinboro players were recognized.  Samantha Reimer (Altoona, PA/Altoona) (left) earned a spot on the first team, with Kelsey Conklin (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) and Renee’ Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mount Alvernia Catholic) named to the second team.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 9, 2010) – Edinboro University junior Torsten Gillespie (Webster, NY/Webster) has been named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week for the period ending March 7.  Gillespie was one of four Fighting Scots to win individual championships as Edinboro won its eighth straight Eastern Wrestling League Championship on Sunday.  The Fighting Scots outdistanced Pittsburgh, the regular season champion.

KISSIMMEE, Fl. (March 8, 2010) – Freshman pitcher Brittney Mackey made an impressive debut in her first start for the Edinboro softball team.  The right hander threw a five inning no-hitter to lead the Fighting Scots to an 8-0 win over Fayetteville State in the first of two games on Monday.  In the nightcap, 18^th-ranked C.W. Post defeated Edinboro 4-1.  The Fighting Scots are 2-2.  Fayetteville State is now 5-8, while C.W. Post is 3-1.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 8, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s and women’s cross country teams have once again been recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their excellence in the classroom.

KISSIMMEE, Fl. (March 7, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s softball team opened its 2010 campaign on Sunday with a split of two contests in the Rebel Spring Games at the Osceola County Complex.  The Fighting Scots opened the season with a 4-0 win over Urbana before dropping an 8-6 decision to Northern State.

             Beth Mullins picked up where she left off a year ago in the season opener.  The junior tossed a three-hitter and did not issue a walk while striking out five.  A year ago she finished with a 15-11 record while earning first team All-PSAC West honors.

            Freshman Jessica VanDamia provided the offense, driving in all four runs.  The Fighting Scots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Marissa Pullo singled, stole second and scored on a two-out single by VanDamia.   Edinboro tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning on a two-out bases loaded double by VanDamia.  The two freshmen combined for four of Edinboro’s seven hits.

            The loss dropped Urbana to 1-1.

            In the nightcap, freshman Amanda Shields from nearby Fort LeBoeuf High School got the call on the mound but did not make it through the second inning.  Edinboro opened the game in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs on a two-run homer by Jade Thrower. 

            Northern State, now 3-7, answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to five hits, a pair of walks and a costly error.  The Wolves added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to chase Shields.  Sophomore Stacie Balkovic came in and shut out Northern State the rest of the way.  Balkovic scattered five hits and a walk while striking out three over the final five innings.  Shields allowed all eight runs, although only four were earned.

            Edinboro closed to 8-5 in the top of the sixth inning with three runs.  Caitie Weber’s fielder’s choice drove in the first run, and freshman Stephanie Cassidy drove in two more runs with a single up the middle with two outs.

            The Fighting Scots tried to rally in the seventh inning but came up short.  Kari Falk, yet another of the freshmen in the lineup, doubled to left for her fourth hit of the game with two outs.  Caitlin Baer followed with a double to left center to pull the Scots within two runs but pinch hitter Brittney Mackey grounded out to second to end the game.

            Edinboro ended the game with 15 hits.  In addition to Falk’s 4-for-4 effort, Cassidy was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, with Thrower and freshman Breanna Price adding two hits each.

            The Fighting Scots are back in action on Monday with two more games.  They play Fayetteville State at 3 p.m., followed by 18^th-ranked C.W. Post at 5 p.m.      

MORGANTOWN, WV (March 7, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team may have entered the 2010 Eastern Wrestling League Championships in the rare form of underdog, but somebody forgot to tell them  With an incredible run in the second and third sessions that featured 16 straight wins, Edinboro rallied for its eighth straight EWL Championship, outdistancing Pittsburgh 135.5 points to 121.5 points.  Clarion came in third with 111 points.

MORGANTOWN, WV (March 7, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team is in second place after the first session of the EWL Tournament.  West Virginia is hosting the tournament at the West Virginia University Coliseum.  Pittsburgh, the dual meet champion, is in first place with 103 points.  The Fighting Scots are next with 84.5 points, with Clarion coming in with 83 points.  Session two gets underway at 5 p.m., with the finals to follow at 7 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (March 6, 2010) – Several men’s performers turned in strong showings for the Edinboro track & field team in the UNF Spring Break Open on Saturday.  The second day of competition featured a first place finish by Jason Borst in the 400-meter hurdles, as the junior finished with a time of 53.55.  That is good for an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (March 6, 2010) – Freshman Hannah Kucewicz capped the second day of action for the Edinboro women’s track & field team in the UNF Spring Break Open with a second place finish in the 1500-meter run.  Kucewicz posted a time of 4:53.50, a second off the pace set by winner Amanda Twigg of Lipscomb (4:52.44).

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (March 5, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s track & field team opened its outdoor season on Friday competing in the first day of competition at the UNF Spring Break Open.  The event continues on Saturday.

Freshman Jordan Roose (left) turned in Edinboro’s top finish with a second place showing in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:43.13.  The Fighting Scots also had a pair of third place finishes, with Kyle Wunz coming in third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.56.   Freshman Chris Carpin also picked up a third place finish in the pole vault, clearing 13’9.25”. 

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (March 5, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s track & field team opened its outdoor season on Friday competing in the first day of competition at the UNF Spring Break Open.  The event continues on Saturday.

            Tina Yi  (left) paced Edinboro’s running efforts as she started the outdoor season the same way she ended the indoor campaign – with a strong showing in the 5,000-meter run.  In fact, the junior outran the entire field, placing first with a time of 17:40.04.  That was over 15 seconds better than her closest competitor and just seven seconds off an NCAA provisional qualifying time.  Teammate Hilary Weismiller made it two Fighting Scots in the top three as she came in third with a time of 18:34.18. 

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 4, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team will head to Morgantown, West Virginia in search of its eighth straight Eastern Wrestling League Tournament title.  West Virginia will host the EWL Tournament on Sunday, March 7 at the West Virginia University Coliseum.  At stake is not only the league crown, but 19 automatic berths into the NCAA Division I national Championships.  An injury-riddled Fighting Scot squad will have to hold off a strong Pittsburgh lineup, along with the likes of Bloomsburg, West Virginia and Clarion, to defend its crown.

ERIE, Pa. (March 2, 2010) – Renee’ Brown dropped in a team high 18 points but it was not enough as the Fighting Scots fell in the PSAC Playoffs to top ranked Gannon by a final of 81-67. Edinboro ends the season at 16-12 while Gannon improves to 31-0. Kelsey Conklin chipped in 17 points, Samantha Reimer added 14 including a perfect 7-7 from the line and Casey Heller added eight points in their final games for Edinboro.

EDINBORO, Pa. (March 1, 2010) – The Edinboro women's basketball team hopes that the old saying that it's tough to beat a team three times in the same season holds true as they will battle top ranked Gannon in the PSAC Playoffs on Tuesday at the Hammermill Center in Erie at 7:00 p.m. The Fighting Scots edged Clarion 78-66 on Saturday to qualify for the playoffs with a 16-11 mark and were even at 7-7 in the PSAC West. The Knights concluded the regular season undefeated at 30-0 including 14-0 in the PSAC West.

 EDINBORO, Pa. – Danny Walsh led four players in double figures on Saturday afternoon as Edinboro ended the season with an 86-79 win in overtime over Clarion.  With the victory the Fighting Scots end the season with an 11-16 record and 5-9 in the PSAC West.  It ends a streak of nine straight years in the PSAC playoffs for Edinboro.  Despite the loss Clarion is the number two seed in the PSAC Playoffs with a 17-10 record and 9-5 in league play.

(Feb. 27, 2010) – Forgive the Edinboro women’s basketball team if they don’t mind playing top-ranked Gannon for a third time.  The Fighting Scots have a date with the Lady Knights on Tuesday, March 2 in the PSAC Quarterfinals.  Edinboro secured its first PSAC Playoff berth since 2006-07, pulling away for a 78-66 win over Clarion at McComb Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.  The win locked up the fourth Western Division playoff spot for the Fighting Scots,a s they are now 16-11 overall and 7-7 in division play.  Clarion, in need of a win to capture the fourth spot, ends its season at 14-13 and 5-9, respectively.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 26, 2010) – The Edinboro women's basketball team will be in a winner take all situation in their Saturday matchup with Clarion with a PSAC Playoff berth on the line in McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots currently sit in the fourth spot with a record of 15-11 and 6-7 in the PSAC West. The Golden Eagles are currently 14-12 on the year with a 5-8 record in the Western Division. A victory would propel Clarion into the playoffs despite having the same PSAC record as Edinboro as the Golden Eagles hold the tiebreaker due to their earlier victory over California (Pa.).

The Fighting Scots will be celebrating seniro day as Chris Bess, Vlad Kovalevsky, Justin Moore and Andrew Walczak will be honor in pregame ceremonies. Edinboro enters the game with a record of 10-16 overall including 4-9 in the PSAC West. The Golden Eagles have clinched the second seed in the Western Division and come into the weekend with 17-9 mark including 9-4 in the PSAC West.

(Feb. 24, 2010) – The Edinboro University men’s basketball team saw its hopes for a tenth consecutive trip to the PSAC Playoffs come to an end on Wednesday night at the hands of a sixth-ranked Indiana(Pa.) squad.  The Crimson Hawks improved to 24-2 overall and 12-1 in the PSAC West with an 88-73 over the Fighting Scots at McComb Fieldhouse.   Edinboro fell to 10-16 with the loss and is 4-9 in the PSAC West.

EDINBORO, Pa. – Sophomore forward Renee’ Brown had 18 points and a career high 15 rebounds as she reached a double-double for the seventh time this season but two free throws with just 1.6 seconds remaining by Hillary Shope for the Crimson Hawks led IUP to a 64-62 overtime victory at McComb Fieldhouse. Senior forward Kelsey Conklin chipped in 18 points and blocked a career high as the Fighting Scots dropped to 15-11 including 6-7 in the PSAC West to set up a showdown with Clarion on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the final conference playoff spot out of the Western Division as the Golden Eagles picked up a 73-67 over Lock Haven. IUP improves to 16-9 and 9-4 in the PSAC West.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome will be the site of the PSAC Indoor Track & Field championships on Saturday and Sunday, February 27-28. It marks the first time that Edinboro has hosted the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 23, 2010) – The Edinboro women's basketball team will look to secure a PSAC Playoff berth with a win over visiting Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday night. Sitting at 15-10 and 6-6 in the PSAC West, the Fighting Scots hold a two game edge over Mercyhurst and Clarion for the final playoff spot. With two games remaining, Edinboro needs just one win or one loss by both Mercyhurst and Clarion to clinch a postseason appearance. The Crimson Hawks sit in third place at  15-9 including 8-4 in the PSAC West but Edinboro could pass IUP in the standings with two wins, two IUP losses and some help.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Phil Moricone (Derry, NH/Pinkerton) has been named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week for the week ending February 21.  Moricone was dominant while picking up a pair of wins at 174 lbs. to improve to 16-3.

  KENT, Oh. (Feb. 22, 2010) – Three Edinboro women’s indoor track and field athletes earned top 10 finishes this past Saturday at the unscored Kent State Open in Kent, OH. Stephanie Smigiera and Ashley Lewis led the way with top 5 finishes in the 300-meter hurdles, while Tina Yi placed 10^th in the one-mile run.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 21, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s swimming team completed a very strong four days of swimming with an eighth place finish out of 13 teams at the PSAC Swimming Championships at Cumberland Valley High School.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 21, 2010) – Zac Clifford is headed to Canton.  The junior, in his first season at Edinboro after transferring from Shippensburg, took home first place in the 200-yard backstroke at the PSAC Championships.  His time of 1:50.43 was a new meet and school record and met the NCAA A-cut time, earning Clifford a post in the NCAA Division II National Championships.  The Nationals are set for March 10-13 in Canton, Ohio.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Edinboro men’s swimming team has to rate as one of the big surprises at the PSAC Swimming  Championships heading into Sunday’s final day of competition.  The Fighting Scots are fourth out of seven teams after a day which head coach Chris Rhodes termed as “unbelievable”.

(Feb. 20, 2010) – Head coach Chris Rhodes called it “an unbelievable night”.  That came after a great morning for the Edinboro women’s swimming team during the third day of the PSAC Swimming Championships at Cumberland Valley High School.  His Fighting Scots continue to break school records while enjoying an outstanding tournament.  The PSAC Championships finish up on Sunday.

(Feb. 20, 2010) – Despite suffering an 80-44 loss at California(Pa.) on Saturday night. the Edinboro women’s basketball team moved a step closer to securing the final PSAC West playoff berth.  Losses by Clarion and Mercyhurst put the Fighting Scots on the brink of a postseason berth, with Edinboro needing a win in one of its final two games or a loss by the Golden Eagles and the Lakers.

CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Feb. 20, 2010) – In all likelihood the Edinboro men’s basketball team will not be heading to the PSAC playoffs for the tenth straight year.  The Fighting Scots staged a valiant comeback after trailing by as many as 19 points at California(Pa.) on Saturday night, but they came up just short in a 72-68 loss.  The defeat sends the Fighting Scots to 10-15 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC West.  Cal is now 17-10 and 5-7, respectively.

(Feb. 20, 2010) – One night after seeing Pittsburgh end Edinboro’s string of 30 consecutive Eastern Wrestling League matches without a defeat, the Fighting Scots started a new streak with an impressive 29-6 win over West Virginia on Saturday night.  The victory ended the dual match season for both teams, as Edinboro finishes with a 9-6 record and 5-1 in the EWL, while the Mountaineers are 3-10 and 3-3, respectively.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s swimming team is in fourth place after the second day of competition at the PSAC Swimming Championships at Cumberland Valley High School.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team saw its 30-match Eastern Wrestling League streak without a loss come to an end on Friday night as Pittsburgh handed the Fighting Scots a 21-13 defeat in front of 1,937 fans at Fitzgerald Field House.  The loss is the second straight for Edinboro and leaves the 25^th-ranked Fighting Scots with a 8-6 record and 4-1 in the EWL.  Pittsburgh clinches its first EWL dual match crown under head coach Rande Stottlemyer while improving to 17-1-1 and 6-0 in the EWL.  The Panthers are ranked 18^th in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll and 21^st according to InterMat.

(Feb. 19, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team faces a California(Pa.) team with a similar goal in mind – capturing one of four PSAC West playoff berths.  Both teams come in at 4-7 in league play, with the winner still remaining in the hunt and the loser eliminated.  Edinboro comes off a 69-60 win over Gannon on Wednesday to improve to 10-14 overall.  Cal is 16-10 after a 74-52 loss to IUP.  Tipoff at Hamer Hall is 7 p.m. on Saturday.

(Feb. 19, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team enters its final weekend of dual meets with the Eastern Wrestling League regular season title on the line.  The Fighting Scots seek their fourth straight dual meet crown, but to do so they will have to upset 18^th-ranked Pittsburgh on Friday night.  The Panthers are 16-1-1, a school record for dual wins.  Edinboro is ranked 25^th in the latest polls with an 8-5 record.  On Saturday Edinboro will celebrate Senior Night, hosting West Virginia.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2010) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships got underway today at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The Edinboro men’s team had a pair of swimmers finish in the top eight in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2010) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships got underway today at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA.  Edinboro’s Marie Nedley got off to a fast start as she posted her best time of the year in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing with an NCAA B qualifying time of 10:36.92.  That was good enough for ninth place.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2010) – The Edinboro University women's basketball team will look to rebound after Wednesday's 80-72  loss to #2 Gannon. The Fighting Scots sit in the fourth spot in the PSAC with a 6-5 mark in the West and a 15-9 record overall. California (Pa.) is tied for second in the PSAC West with Indiana (Pa.) but won both matchups with the Crimson Hawks including a 75-56 home win on Wednesday. This will be Edinboro's last road game before they return for two games at McComb Fieldhouse to wrap up regular season play.

(Feb. 17, 2010) – Byron Knight (left) and Justin Moore combined for 34 points to lead Edinboro to a 69-60 win over Gannon in a PSAC West game on Wednesday night.  The victory kept the Fighting Scots alive in the PSAC playoff chase, as they improved to 10-14 overall and 4-7 in the PSAC West.  Gannon fell into a tie with Mercyhurst for third place at 6-5 in league play and 11-13 overall.

(Feb. 17, 2010) –Senior guard Samantha Reimer looked relaxed after breaking the school record as she dropped in 26 points and dished out four assists but it was not enough to overcome #2 Gannon as the Fighting Scots fell 80-72. Reimer nailed five three pointers to tie a career high behind the arc. Edinboro drops to 15-9 and 6-5 in the PSAC while the Knights improved to 27-0 including 11-0 in the PSAC West. Gannon has won 37 straight regular season games.

(Feb. 16, 2010) – Riding high on a three game winning streak and sitting with a two game advantage over Mercyhurst for the final PSAC playoff spot out of the West, the Edinboro women's basketball team will face a major challenge as 2nd Ranked Gannon invades McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots are currently 15-8 including 6-4 in the PSAC West. The Knights have won their last 36 regular season games and are 26-0 on the year including 10-0 in the PSAC West.

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team fell to 25^th in the latest InterMat and 22^nd NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll.  The Fighting Scots dropped a 24-14 decision to North Carolina on Friday night, and are now 8-5 overall.  Edinboro had been 21^st according to InterMat and 22^nd in the NWCA poll.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 16, 2010) – It’s rivalry time once again as Edinboro hosts Gannon.  With both now members of the PSAC West, the games bear even greater significance.  Edinboro comes in with a 9-14 record and is 3-7 in league play.  It is safe to say the Fighting Scots are in a “must-win” situation.  Gannon, meanwhile, sits in third place in the division with a 6-4 record.  The Golden Knights are 11-12 overall after losing to Lake Erie on Monday.   Tipoff at McComb Fieldhouse is set for 7:30 p.m.

Edinboro, Pa. (Feb. 13, 2010) –  Edinboro’s Shawn Giblin finished second at 133 lbs. at the 2010 Edinboro Open at McComb Fieldhouse on Saturday. Giblin suffered a 5-3 loss to Evan Yenolovich, who was wrestling unattached, in the finals.  Ashton Osterberg finished in fifth place after picking up a forfeit victory over Buffalo’s Taylor Golba.

            SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Feb. 13, 2010) – In all likelihood Edinboro’s chances of qualifying for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Playoffs came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Slippery Rock’s Morrow Field House.  The Fighting Scots saw two shots fail to go down in the final seconds as The Rock held on for a 78-77 win.  Edinboro is now 9-14 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC West.  Slippery Rock is also 3-7 in league play and 14-9 overall after snapping a four game losing streak.

(Feb. 13, 2010) – Senior guard Samantha Reimer nailed a three pointer from the top of the key with 6:25 to go in the game to give her 1,847 points on her career, breaking Jessica Rowe’s mark of 1,846 to become Edinboro’s all-time leading scorer. Reimer finished the game with 22 points to give her 1,851 as the Fighting Scots picked up a 79-52 at Slippery Rock to improve to 15-8 and 6-4 in the PSAC West. The Rock drops to 5-18 overall including 2-8 in the PSAC West.

BEREA, Oh. (Feb. 13, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s indoor track team continued its strong performance this season by winning four individual events in the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational on Friday night. Hilary Weismiller led the way by winning two individual events, while Tina Yi and Hannah Kucewicz also earned first-place finishes.

EDINBORO, Pa.(Feb. 12, 2010) – In a season that has been filled with injuries and inconsistent wrestling, Edinboro saw its five-match winning streak come to an end on Friday night as North Carolina handed the Fighting Scots a 24-14 defeat.  The loss leaves Edinboro, which came in ranked 21^st in InterMat’s Top 25 and 22^nd according to the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll, with an 8-5 record.  UNC improved to 5-7-1.

(Feb. 12, 2010) – The Edinboro women’s basketball team continues its run for a PSAC Playoff berth on Saturday at Slippery rock.  The Fighting Scots are currently in fourth place in the PSAC West with a 5-4 record and are 14-8 overall.  Slippery Rock has a 5-17 record and is 2-7 in league play.  The Rock helped Edinboro out with an upset of Mercyhurst last Saturday, now the Fighting Scots must avoid a similar fate.

(Feb. 12, 2010) – Fresh off an impressive 62-55 win over Mercyhurst, the Edinboro men’s basketball team travels to Slippery Rock looking for a sweep of the season series.  The Fighting Scots won the earlier match in January, 82-80.  Both teams have gone on to struggle since then, with Edinboro coming in with a 9-13 record and 3-6 in the PSAC West.  SRU has lost seven of its last eight games to fall to 13-9 overall and 2-7 in league play.

(Feb. 9, 2010)  – Edinboro University senior Trevor Harris (Waldo, OH/Marion Pleasant) has been named to the 2009 Football Gazette All-America Team.  Harris earned honorable mention All-America honors for the second straight year.  This marks the second All-American team to honor Harris, as he was previously named a D2Football.com honorable mention All-American for the second straight year.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Torsten Gillespie (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) has been named the Easter Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ending February 7.  The junior paced the Fighting Scots to a pair of EWL wins, 28-13 over Bloomsburg and 39-6 at Cleveland state.  The Fighting Scots have now gone 29 straight EWL matches without a loss while improving to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the EWL.

(Feb. 9, 2010) – It’s rivalry time again as Edinboro hosts Mercyhurst on Wednesday night.  The PSAC West playoff race is heating up, with the Fighting Scots moving perilously close to playing the role of spoiler.  Edinboro has lost four games in a row to fall to 8-13 overall and 2-6 in the Western Division.  The Lakers invade McComb Fieldhouse riding a three-game winning streak to improve to 15-6 overall and 5-3 in the PSAC West.  Mercyhurst came away with an 83-72 win in the first meeting between the two in January.

(Feb. 8, 2010) – Edinboro University’s Chris Klimchock (Greensburg, PA/ Greensburg Salem) has been named the PSAC West Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for the third time this year.  The 5’9” point guard was recognized despite Edinboro dropping both of its games to fall to 8-13 on the season.     

CLEVELAND, Oh. – The Edinboro wrestling team won its fifth straight dual match on Saturday, handling Cleveland State by a 39-6 score at Woodling Gymnasium in an Eastern Wrestling League match.  More importantly, the Fighting Scots boosted their streak of EWL matches without a loss to 29 straight.  They are 27-0-2 during that period.

OBERLIN, Oh.– Edinboro University’s women’s indoor track team won four events and finished fourth out of five teams  at the Oberlin Invitational on Friday. The Fighting Scots finished with 96 team points, 13.5 behind third-place finisher Baldwin Wallace. The meet was Edinboro’s first scored meet of the season after last week’s unscored Al Hall Freedom Games.

(Feb. 6, 2010) – Edinboro’s swimming meet with Malone scheduled for today at 1 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse has been cancelled.  However, the Fighting Scots will still compete today.  Gannon was scheduled to swim at IUP, but that meet was cancelled due to winter storm hitting southern Pennsylvania.  Instead, the Golden Knights will come to Edinboro and swim in an unscored meet.  That will get underway at 1 p.m.   

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2010) – There might just be a correlation between Edinboro’s wrestling team getting healthy and the Fighting Scots starting to peak.  It sure looked that way on Friday night, as a Fighting Scot team minus just two starters turned in an impressive performance in defeating Bloomsburg 28-13 in an Eastern Wrestling League match.  It marked the 29^th straight EWL match without a loss for Edinboro, with the Fighting Scots 27-02 during that period.  Edinboro is now 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the EWL.  Bloomsburg fell to 9-8 and 1-4, respectively.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2010)- The Edinboro University men’s swimming team picked up a 106-90 over Penn State Behrend to improve to 5-3 on the year behind some strong individual efforts. Ben Rafalski (left) picked up two individual victories and a relay win and Ryan Sestak picked up two individual victories. Rafalski picked up a wins in the 200 yard IM, the 100 yard butterfly and was a part of the victorious 200 yard medley relay team. The Nittany Lions drop to 5-5.

(Feb. 5, 2010)- The Edinboro University women’s swimming team had five swimmers reach PSAC Championship qualifying times during their 113-74 victory over Penn State Behrend.  The Fighting Scots finished 1-2-3 in the 1650 yard freestyle as Kayla Joy (left) won the event with a time of 18:31.69, which qualifies her for the PSAC’s. Marie Nedley finished second and also had a PSAC qualifying time at 18:37.79 while Megan Kaulius finished in third to give the ‘Boro a sweep in the event. Edinboro improves to 5-8 while the Nittany Lions drop to 6-5.

EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro University’s Samantha Reimer (Altoona, PA/Altoona Area) has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine College Division District 2 Women’s Basketball Team.  Reimer earned a spot on the first team and now moves on to the national ballot.  The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Teams are selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).  College Division District 2 includes Division II, II and NAIA schools from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

(Feb. 3, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team was no match for sixth-ranked Indiana(Pa.) on Wednesday night, dropping an 81-55 decision at Memorial Field House.  The Fighting Scots suffered their third straight loss and ninth in the last 11 games.  They are now 8-12 overall and finish the first half of PSAC West action with a 2-5 record.  IUP won its seventh straight game and finished the first half of divisional play with a perfect 7-0 record.  The Crimson Hawks are 18-1.

 EDINBORO, Pa.- (Feb. 2, 2009)- Zak Clifford ( Oil City, PA/Oil City) was named PSAC Swimmer of the Week for the week ending on January 31 as announced by the conference office today. He won three individual events and a relay as Edinboro’s men’s swimming team defeated Allegheny, 145-117. Clifford won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.17, the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.19, and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.01. The junior along with Ryan Sestek, Derek Sapp and Ben Rafalski won the 200-yard medley by a narrow margin.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2010) – Edinboro University’s women’s indoor track and field team hosted its first-ever home meet with the Al Hall Freedom Games at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome on Saturday.   The event was highlighted by a team effort in the one-mile run. The Fighting Scots had five of the top six finishers as Hilary Weismiller won the event with a time of 5:16.54.  Tina Yi took home second place (5:23.55) and Cheryl Svetz (5:36.80) finished fourth, Kelly Bergeron (5:38.41) was fifth, and Alex Brasington (5:41.75)c ame in sixth. The event was not scored but featured participants from California(Pa.), Walsh , Clarion, and Thiel.

CLARION, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team suffered an 82-64 loss at Clarion on Saturday afternoon at Waldo S. (Jan. 30, 2010) – Freshman forward Samantha Blazetic (left) just missed a triple double by two blocks as she finished with 20 points, ten rebounds and eight blocks in just 25 minutes of action as the Fighting Scots picked up a key 94-85 victory at Clarion to improve to 12-7 and 3-3 in the PSAC West. Blazetic’s eight blocks breaks the school record in a game and her 20 points were a career high. Senior forward Kelsey Conklin added a double-double herself tying a season high in points with 27 and notching a season high in rebounds with 12. The Edinboro, PA native played all 40 minutes in the game as well. The loss drops Clarion to 10-9 overall including 1-5 in the PSAC West.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 29, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team plays the second of three straight road games on Saturday, travelling to Clarion to meet the Golden Eagles in a PSAC West encounter.  The Fighting Scots fell to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in the division with a last-second 61-60 loss at Gannon.  Clarion, meanwhile, was winning its third straight game that same night with a 77-75 win over Mercyhurst.  The Golden Eagles have already eclipsed their 2008-09 win total and have a 12-6 record, including 4-1 in the PSAC West.  Edinboro has won the last five meetings with Clarion.

(Jan. 27, 2010) – Gannon’s women’s basketball team won its 31^st straight regular season game and improved to 21-0 on the season and 5-0 in the PSAC West on Wednesday night.  But visiting Edinboro put a scare into the third-ranked Golden Knights before finally succumbing 79-67.  The Fighting Scots suffered their third straight loss and are now 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC West, but in the process they may have found out something about themselves.

  EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2010) – Four Edinboro football players were named to the Football Gazette All-Super Region One team today. Defensive lineman Chad Brooks (left) (Brockport, NY/Albion/Fordham) earned second-team honors along with quarterback Trevor Harris (Waldo, OH/Marion Pleasant) and offensive guard Rob Stoner (Edinboro, PA/General McLane). Cornerback Branden Williams (Eastlake, OH/St. Edward) was named to the third-team defense.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2010) – Edinboro will face a still challenge as it will play fourth-ranked local rival Gannon. The Fighting Scots begin a three-game PSAC West road trip with an 11-6 mark including 2-2 in the PSAC West. The Knights have won their last 30 regular season games and are 20-0 including 4-0 in the PSAC West as they build off last year's appearance in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

ASHLAND, Oh. (Jan. 23, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s swimming team split a pair of meets with Gannon and Ashland in a three-team meet in Ashland on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots dropped a 198-79 decision to Ashland, but defeated Gannon 155-107. The loss and victory brought Edinboro’s record to 3-3.

ASHLAND, Oh. (Jan. 23, 2010)– The Edinboro women’s swimming team lost its meets against Gannon and Ashland on the road on Saturday at Ashland. The Fighting Scots fell 168-119 to Ashland and dropped a 158-130 decision to Gannon. The Golden Knights finished first and second in the diving event to clinch the win over Edinboro, which lacks a diving team. The two losses left Edinboro’s record at 3-8.

            EDINBORO, Pa. – A year ago Edinboro squandered a 13-point second half lead and ended up losing in California(Pa.)’s visit to McComb Fieldhouse.  This time around Byron Knight (left) and Al Muteba made sure that didn’t happen again.  The Fighting Scots almost allowed the Vulcans to climb all the way back from a 16-point deficit, but Knight scored a career-high 31 points and Muteba came up big down the stretch to lead Edinboro to as 79-72 win on the annual Red-Out Day.  The victory boosted Edinboro to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC West, while Cal fell to 12-7 overall and 0-4 in league play.

(Jan. 23, 2010) – Edinboro came into Saturday’s game leading the PSAC in turnover margin at +10.1 but struggled to take care of the ball with a season high 25 turnovers in a 69-52 loss to #21 California (Pa.) at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots allowed 23 offensive rebounds and hit just three of their 10 free throw attempts. The Vulcans took advantage of their 30 trips to the free throw line converting on 18. The ‘Boro was also held without a double figure scorer with Senior guard Samantha Reimer and sophomore forward Micki Cerchiaro (left) each scoring nine to lead the team. The 52 points for the Fighting Scots is the lowest scoring total for the team this season. The loss drops Edinboro to 11-6 including 2-2 in the PSAC West while the Vulcans improve to 13-4 and 3-1 in the PSAC West.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2010) – The French are coming!  The French are coming!  It will be a friendly invasion, however.  The French Men’s National Wheelchair Basketball Team will hold a week of training camp at Edinboro University from February 1-7.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2010) – A once renowned sports program is returning to Edinboro University.  Edinboro University President Dr. Jeremy D. Brown has announced that tennis, once one of the top programs in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the NAIA, will be reinstated beginning in 2010-11.

(Jan. 21, 2010) – Great basketball, free t-shirts and plenty of door prizes.  What more could you ask for on a Saturday afternoon in January.  Edinboro will hold its 3^rd Annual Red-Out Day on Saturday, with plenty of students receiving free t-shirts.  In addition, two of the traditional powers in the PSAC West will meet as Edinboro hosts California(Pa.).  The Fighting Scots are in search of their tenth straight trip to the NCAA Playoffs.  The Vulcans, meanwhile, have reached postseason play 10 of the last 12 years.

(Jan. 19, 2010) – The Edinboro wrestling team is ranked 21^st in the latest NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll and 22^nd in the InterMat Division I Top 25 this week.  The Fighting Scots improved to 5-4 in dual matches this past weekend with a comeback wins.  They defeated Buffalo on Saturday 19-17 after trailing 17-3, then rallied the next day for a 25-13 win at Clarion after falling behind 13-3.  That extended Edinboro’s EWL string of matches without a loss to 27.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 18, 2010) – Edinboro University junior Shawn Fendone (Salem, NH/Central Catholic(Mass.)) has been named the Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ending January 17.  Fendone played a huge role as the Fighting Scots rallied for a pair of wins in dual matches.  The Fighting Scots edged Buffalo, 19-17, then opened up EWL action with a 25-13 win at Clarion.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 17, 2010) – Less than 24 hours after rallying for a 19-17 win against Buffalo the Edinboro wrestling team did it again, this time opening Eastern Wrestling League action with a 25-13 triumph at Clarion.  The victory extends Edinboro’s streak without a loss in EWL matches to 27 straight, with a 25-0-2 during that period.  The Fighting Scots, ranked 21^st by in the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll and 23^rd by InterMat, are 5-4 while Clarion is now 2-4.  The Golden Eagles were seeking their second upset of a nationally-ranked team after defeating Old Dominion last week.

(jan. 16, 2010) – On the verge of suffering its third straight loss and first ever to the University at Buffalo, the Edinboro wrestling team roared back to win the final five bouts and claim a 19-17 win over the Bulls on Saturday night at McComb Fieldhouse.  The win left the Fighting Scots, ranked 21^st by in the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll and 23^rd by InterMat, with a 4-4 record heading into tomorrow’s Eastern Wrestling League opener at Clarion.  That match gets underway at 2 p.m.  Buffalo fell to 7-4-1.

FREDONIA, NY (Jan. 15, 2009) – The Edinboro women’s swimming team split against Fredonia State and Ithaca on Friday afternoon as they returned to action following the long holiday break.  The Fighting Scots defeated Fredonia State, 141-93, and dropped a 138-99 decision to Ithaca.  That leaves Edinboro with a 3-6 record.  Edinboro finished first among the three schools in the combined competition with men and women.

(Jan. 9, 2010) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team saw its losing streak reach three games on Saturday following a 96-88 loss to Kutztown in a PSAC crossover contest at McComb Fieldhouse.  The loss to the sixth-ranked Golden Bears dropped Edinboro to the .500 mark at 6-6, while Kutztown remained undefeated at 11-0.  That marks the best start for the Golden Bears in over 90 years.

HAMPTON, Va. – In a matchup of two nationally-ranked teams, 11^th-ranked Lehigh handed 16^th-ranked Edinboro a 26-10 defeat in the quarterfinals of the 30^th Annual Virginia Duals.  The event is taking place at the Hampton Coliseum.  The Fighting Scots are now 3-3 while Lehigh improved to 8-2.

HAMPTON, Va. (Jan. 8, 2010) – The 16^th-ranked Edinboro wrestling team opened action in the 30^th Annual Virginia Duals with a 20-12 win over Ohio University.  The Fighting Scots won four of the last five matches to improve to 3-2.  Ohio suffered its first loss and is now 6-1.

Edinboro, PA (Jan. 7, 2010)– The Edinboro University women’s basketball team will jump back into PSAC Crossover action after defeating non-conference opponent Concord, 90-37, on Wednesday night. On Saturday, the Fighting Scots will be in action against Kutztown (8-3) with a 1:00 p.m. tip. Sunday's 1:00 p.m. tip against East Stroudsburg will feature a 2-9 Warriors team.

(Jan. 6, 2010) – The Urbana men’s basketball team had been an up and down outfit this season, and unfortunately for Edinboro on Wednesday night, the Blue Knights were on a huge up.  The end result was a 99-84 win for hot-shooting Urbana at the Warren G. Grimes Center.  The loss dropped the Fighting Scots to 6-5 and marked the first time Edinboro had followed up a loss with another loss.  Urbana snapped a four-game losing streak while improving to 8-7.  Three of those losses had come to nationally-ranked teams.

The Lions fall to 7-2.With her efforts, Reimer moved to third place in the career scoring list at Edinboro with 1634 points and moved up to eighth place in career assists with 384.

Mansfield, PA (Jan. 2, 2010) – The Edinboro University women’s basketball team picked up a PSAC Crossover victory, 90-48, at Mansfield to start off the 2010 portion of their schedule. Freshman Samantha Blazetic led five scorers in double figures for the Fighting Scots with 17 points. Blazetic also pulled down a team high eight rebounds. The pressure defense proved to be the difference as the Boro forced 28 turnovers and held the Mountaineers to just 29.6% in the second half. The Fighting Scots will enter Saturday afternoon's game against Mansfield with a 5-3 mark after splitting their two games at the United Electric Holiday Tournament hosted by Bellarmine. The Mountianeers are 2-6 on the season and have not played since December 12. On Sunday, the Fighting Scots travel to Bloomsburg to play the 6-1 Huskies.  Both games will tip at 1:00 p.m.

EDINBORO, Pa (Dec. 31, 2009) -- Edinboro begins the New Year with a two-game swing to the east for PSAC crossover games at Mansfield and Bloomsburg.  The Fighting Scots are 5-3 after suffering an 81-72 loss to Alderson-Broaddus on Tuesday.  Mansfield, the Boro’s opponent on Saturday, is 6-3, while Bloomsburg, Sunday’s foe, is 4-4.

GREENSBORO, NC (Dec. 30, 2009) – Chris Honeycutt (left) led a contingent of seven Edinboro wrestlers to place at the Southern Scuffle, as Edinboro finished fourth out of 31 teams in the two-day event held at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.  Honeycutt took home first place place at 184 lbs.  Three Fighting Scots – Torsten Gillespie (149 lbs.), Jarrod King (165 lbs.), and Chris Birchler (285 lbs.) – finished third, with Eric Morrill coming in fifth at 125 lbs. and Ashton Osterberg and Phil Moricone placing eighth at 133 and 174 lbs., respectively.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 29, 2009) – A slow start proved fatal for the Edinboro men’s basketball team on Tuesday night, as Alderson-Broaddus handed the Fighting Scots an 81-72 defeat.  The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Edinboro, now 5-3.  The Battlers improved to 3-2.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 28, 2009) – Never one to shy away from strong competition, Edinboro wrestling coach Tim Flynn takes his 16^th-ranked Fighting Scots to the Southern Scuffle on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The 30-team field includes seven ranked teams, including fifth-ranked Minnesota and eighth-ranked Cornell.  The field of over 400 wrestlers includes more than 50 nationally-ranked grapplers, with four ranked number one at their respective weight class.  That includes Edinboro’s Jarrod King, ranked number one at 165 lbs.

EDINBORO, Pa. (December 28, 2009) – The Edinboro men’s basketball team plays its final game before the new Year, hosting a strong Alderson-Broaddus team on Tuesday, December 29.  Tipoff at McComb Fieldhouse is slated for 7 p.m.  Edinboro enters the game with a 5-2 record after defeating Charleston(WV) on December 12.  The Battlers are 2-2 after reaching the Atlantic Regional semifinals a year ago.  They have won at least 22 games in each of the last eight seasons.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 23, 2009) – Edinboro University senior Kelsey Conklin (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) has been named the PSAC West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in the United Electric Holiday Tournament.  Conklin helped the Fighting Scots advance to the championship game with a 98-83 win over Merrimack, before suffering an 85-77 loss to host Bellarmine in the championship game.  That leaves Edinboro with a 5-3 record heading into 2010.

EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 23, 2009) – The Edinboro wrestling team moved up one spot in the latest NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll after its second place showing while facing a strong field in the Reno Tournament of Champions.  The Fighting Scots are now 16^th after being ranked 17^th for several weeks.

(Dec. 22, 2009) – A late rally by Bellarmine spelled defeat for the Edinboro women’s basketball team on Tuesday night.  The Fighting Scots suffered an 85-77 loss to the homestanding Knights in the championship game of the United Electric Holiday Tournament.  The loss dropped Edinboro to 5-3, while Bellarmine improves to 8-1.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Edinboro women’s basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Bellarmine United Electric Holiday Tournament with a  98-83 win over Merrimack in Knights Hall.  With the victory the Fighting Scots improved to 5-2 while the Warriors fell to 2-8.  Edinboro will face the winner of Monday’s other semifinal game between Bellarmine and Queens(NY) in Tuesday’s championship game.  That contest is set for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
