EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2015) -- Members of the Edinboro University men's and women's swimming teams took part in the Down Syndrome Group of Erie County "Sweet 16" Celebration and its Buddy Walk on Sunday, October 4. The event took place at the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Erie. The Buddy Walk covered 16 laps around the indoor track in the Junker Center. The day also included games and activities, face painting and raffles. The Buddy Walk has become a yearly event for the swimming program.

The Down Sydrome Group of Erie County is a non-profit group that was formed to give parents the opportunity to meet with other parents of children with Down syndrome in an atmosphere of education, personal support and friendship. The mission of the group is to provide support, resources and advocacy with the aim of increasing opportunities with individuals with Down syndrome, their families and caregivers.
