Edinboro Captures 2014 PSAC Championship with 5-3 Win over Kutztown

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 18, 2014) – The Edinboro men's tennis team won its fourth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crown in school history with a 5-3 victory over defending champion Kutztown on Friday afternoon in West Chester, PA.

(10-5) collected an 8-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles. The tandem of James Cooper and Thomas Pellegrino (15-8) posted their eighth doubles victory in a row with an 8-3 win at the No. 3 position.

Amir Talab (20-7) earned a 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, while Romain (14-9) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 singles slot.

Borja (18-10) used a third set to seal the win with a 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.

Head coach Lee Underwood captures his first PSAC crown at the helm of the Edinboro program and first title overall as a head coach since both his West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's tennis teams earned West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) titles during the 2009-10 campaign, his final season with the Bobcats.

Edinboro will now await to hear on the Atlantic Regional. The NCAA will announce the Division II tournament field on April 29 at 8 p.m. on NCAA.com.
