WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 17, 2014) – The Edinboro men's tennis team earned  its second straight PSAC Championship Finals appearance Thursday afternoon with a 5-1 triumph over local rival Mercyhurst in the PSAC Championship Semifinals in West Chester, PA. The Fighting Scots have now won eight straight matches and improved to 16-8 on the season. Edinboro now takes on top-seeded Kutztown in tomorrow's PSAC Final, a rematch of last season's conference championship. Kutztown came out on top in that match by a score of 5-2.
 The Fighting Scots won two of three doubles matches against the Lakers, before capturing three singles victories en route to the semifinal victory.

The duo of Matias Aignasse and Juan Estepa (11-7) captured an 8-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles, while James Cooper and Thomas Pellegrino (14-8) won their seventh consecutive doubles match with an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 slot.

Matias Aignasse (18-3) picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win over Travis Beck at No. 1 singles, extending his singles match win streak to eight contests.
Juan Estepa (15-6) defeated Daniel Gimenez 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Brandon Romain topped Ross Molinaro IV by scores of 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 5 singles position.


Edinboro returns to the court tomorrow, facing off with top-seeded Kutztown in the PSAC Championship Final at 12 p.m. in West Chester, PA.
The Golden Bears defeated the Fighting Scots 6-3 in the team's only meeting this season, Edinboro's lone PSAC loss on the season.  The Fighting Scots have compiled a 13-4 record since the loss to Kutztown.
