Women's Lacrosse Team Assists with Coastal Cleanup Day

5890EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2014) -- The Edinboro women's lacrosse team had the opportunity to assist the 2014 Coastal Cleanup recently.  The Coastal Cleanup Day is dedicated to the improvement of beaches, coastal regions and surrounding areas throughout the world.  It has operated for the past 26 years and is one of the largest volunteer events held in the world.

"The women's lacrosse program has been helping with the Coastal Cleanup for the past several years," noted head coach Kevin Cooke.  "It is a great opportunity for the team to give back to the Edinboro Community."

In 2012, the team spent a great deal of time working on campus cleaning the streams and near Mallory Lake.  This year, the team assisted with the cleanup local waterways and beaches in town.

"Community service projects like the Coastal Cleanup are great opportunities not only for our team to bond with one another, but also to create bonds with the local people that share in making the waterways that we all use better," Cooke noted.
