The Game Story
-After opening the season with back-to-back losses to nationally-ranked teams, falling 30-14 at then 19th-ranked Bloomsburg, followed by a 24-14 loss to sixth-ranked California (Pa.), Edinboro righted itself with a 35-19 win at Lock Haven last Saturday.  The Fighting Scots are now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in PSAC West action.  The trip to Brookville, NY is the longest of the season for the Scots, who will be playing third third road contest in four games.  This also marks the first trip to Long Island since 2008, when the Fighting Scots claimed a 31-7 victory.

-LIU Post opened the year with impressive wins over Clarion (46-26) and Cheyney (45-10) before falling to 11th-ranked Bloomsburg this past Saturday.  The Pioneers held a 27-21 lead over the Huskies after three quarters but were unable to hold off Bloomsburg, losing 42-27.

-Edinboro is in its seventh season under head coach Scott Browning.  The former long-time Boro assistant has led the Fighting Scots to a 46-25 record during that period, and tied mentor Tom Hollman for the most wins by a coach in his first six seasons.  A year ago Edinboro finished with a 7-4 record for the second straight season.

-The Fighting Scots were picked to finish fourth in the PSAC West preseason poll, while LIU Post was chosen third in the Eastern Division after finishing in a tie with Kutztown for first place last year.

-Edinboro has won the last two meetings with the Pioneers in a series which is even at 2-2.  Both of those contests came with LIU Post a member of the PSAC East.  This will be the Pioneers final year in the PSAC, as Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown join the conference next year.

-Edinboro returns six starters on offense and six on defense.  The offense is led by second team All-PSAC quarterback Cody Harris, who is in his third year as a starter.  Senior tight end Shawn Walker was a second team All-PSAC West pick in 2010.  Defensively, junior James Jackson was a 2011 first team All-PSAC West selection at cornerback and senior Branden Williams earned the same honor in 2008 and '09.  Jackson is a third team Beyond Sports Network preseason All-American.

-Edinboro faces an ambitious 2012 schedule.  The PSAC crossover slate has the Fighting Scots facing the top three teams from last year in the Eastern Division in Kutztown, Bloomsburg and LIU Post.  The three combined to go 27-8.  Throw in the usual Western Division rivals such as preseason favorites California(Pa.) and Indiana(Pa.), plus local rivals Gannon and Mercyhurst, and Edinboro has its work cut out in 2012.

The All-Time Series
-Tied at 2-2
Edinboro and LIU Post first met in 1976, with the Pioneers coming away with a 30-13 decision at Sox Harrison Stadium.  The Pioneers would win the next meeting, as well, in 1978.  Edinboro has won both meetings since LIU Post joined the PSAC, including a 31-7 decision at Hickox Stadium in 2008 and a 31-23 triumph at Sox Harrison Stadium the next year.

The Last Meeting
-2009 -- Edinboro 31, LIU Post 23
The Fighting Scots rallied from a 17-3 deficit midway through the second quarter as four different players scored touchdowns.  The Pioneers still held a 23-17 lead in the third quarter before the Scots finally grabbed the lead for good on a 42-yard pass from Trevor Harris to Josh Brown late in the third quarter.  Harris would clinch the win with 4:35 remaining on a 24-yard run.  He would complete 12 of 18 passes for 198 yards and run for another 34 yards on five carries.  Junior Jabbie paced the ground game with 138 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries.

The Coaches
-Scott Browning (Ohio State '81)  took over as Edinboro's 13th head coach on January 5, 2006, and in his first six seasons he tied the record for most wins by a coach during that period.  Browning is now in his seventh season with a 46-25 record, tying former mentor Tom Hollman for most wins in the first six seasons.  He was certainly no stranger to Fighting Scot football, however, serving as an assistant coach for the previous twenty years. While at Edinboro he has coached the offensive linemen, defensive backs and running backs, along with serving as the offensive coordinator.  Browning became the first head coach at Edinboro to debut with a win since Bill McDonald in 1969 when the Fighting Scots opened the 2006 season with a 28-14 win at West Chester.  He went on to lead Edinboro to a 6-5 finish, the most wins ever by a first-year coach.  That was followed by a 7-4 finish in 2007.  His next two Fighting Scot editions recorded a school-record tying nine wins.  in 2008 Edinboro ended the year at 9-2 and was ranked 20th in the final AFCA Top 25.  The Fighting Scots had a 9-4 record in 2009, making the NCAA playoffs for the first time in his tenure.  Edinboro would end the year 24th in the AFCA poll.  The Boro has posted back-to-back 7-4 finishes in 2010 and 2011.

-Bryan Collins (St. John's '87) took over as the head coach at LIU Post in 1998, and he also serves as the Director of Athletics.  Collins has a 109-48 career record in his 15th year and ranks as the school's all-time winningest coach.  He was inducted into the LIU Post Football Hall of Fame in 2011.  In addition to guiding the Pioneers to a share of the PSAC East crown a year ago with a 6-1 record, he has led LIU Post to three Northeast-10 Conference championships plus the share of another.  The Pioneers have earned three NCAA Division II Playoff berths during his tenure.
