KANSAS CITY, KS (Jan. 4, 2013) – The Edinboro University women's soccer team stands as one of nine teams to receive Gold Team Ethics Award honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization announced this week.
The Team Ethics Award is earned by exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to laws of the game. Gold honorees earned the accolades for not receiving a single yellow caution card or red ejection card during the course of the 2012 season. Edinboro completed 20 games and more than 1,868 minutes of game time without receiving a penalty this past year.
Also receiving Gold honors were Bowdoin, Delaware Valley, Grove City, Houghton, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, SUNY Geneseo, United States Coast Guard Academy and Westminster.
Head coach
Gary Kagiavas led the Fighting Scots to a 13-4-3 overall record and a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament this past fall. Edinboro also landed several individual post-season awards as four players were named to the All-PSAC team, three to the NSCAA All-Atlantic Region team and two were on the Daktronics All-Atlantic region squad.
